A PROJECT UNITING EUROPE

The Brenner Base Tunnel (BBT) will not only provide a better connection between Innsbruck and Fortezza, but also between northern and southern Europe by eliminating the bottleneck at the Brenner Pass.

  • The existing line is operating at full capacity and is no longer really suitable for modern freight transport due to its steep gradients and winding route.
  • The new flat railway line will allow longer and heavier trains.
  • There will be a significant reduction in travel times.
  • A significant reduction in noise pollution.
  • And increased safety from natural hazards.
