PROJECT COMPANY
SE stands for Societas Europaea, a transnational form of company under European law.
In 1999, the transport ministers of Austria and Italy founded the European Economic Interest Grouping (EEIG) BBT EEIG to plan the Brenner Base Tunnel. On 16 December 2004, the Galleria di Base del Brennero - Brenner Base Tunnel BBT SE emerged from this association and is now responsible for the construction of the BBT.
The shares in BBT SE are divided equally between Austria and Italy.
On the Austrian side, ÖBB (Österreichische Bundesbahnen) is the sole shareholder with 50% of the shares. The holding company TFB (Tunnel Ferroviario del Brennero Holding AG) holds the Italian share of 50%.
TFB is made up of: 90.71% RFI (Rete Ferroviaria Italiana = Italian State Railways), 6.38% Autonomous Province of Bolzano, 2.66% Autonomous Province of Trento and 0.25% Province of Verona.
The Brenner Base Tunnel is co-financed by the European Union.
MANAGMENT
BBT SE applies the dual management system. Two Management Boards manage the business, one of which is based in Austria and one in Italy.
The Supervisory Board monitors the activities of the Management Board and the company.
